The short film Wolf Daddy directed by Chang Hyung-yun won the Hiroshima Award at the 11th Hiroshima Animation Festival. The 10 minute long animation film features the story of a werewolf novelist who gets to play the role of daddy for a six-year-old girl. Produced in 2005, the animation also won the 2005 Korean Animation Award and a Tokyo International Anime Fair award.

Cours Toujours is a little short made for fun! After some time to work for others, we needed to go back to one’s roots : make a short film without constraint, just for pleasure!

The visual was made by Elise Garcette and Olivier Barré, the music by Pilöt… the short was produced by La Station Animation!

Café allongé is a short animated movie made by Maxime Paccalet, produced by Kawanimation / Alexis Laffaille. It’s a pure wonder, it reminds me of studio 4C productions (tekkinkinkreet ; Mind game). You’ll love it ! Guaranteed. More infos on the movie’s site.

Sonar is a visual animation by Renaud Hallée? it’s been selected for the Annecy’s film festival and it’s simply brilliant.

On may 5th will be released the illusionist an animated movie from Sylvain Chomet (les triplettes de Belleville).
“The plot revolves around a struggling illusionist who visits an isolated community and meets a young lady who is convinced that he is a real magician. The film is set in Scotland in the late 1950s. According to the director, “It’s not a romance, it’s more the relationship between a dad and a daughter.”” The story is based on an unproduced Jacques Tati’s script.

When a man is witness to a murder and takes pictures of the killer, he has to run for his life. During the chase he is able to turn the tables and the prey becomes the hunter. All resulting in an unfortunate ending.

Very strong 3D art, dark and with an apparent rusticity but the movement is brillantly rendered.

We ignore or forget them, using things only when we need to, making sure they don’t interfere or inhabit our space. But what if they were not so stable and subservient? What if they could swivel, bounce or even fly. And what if they did so all at the same time?

We want to imagine a place where objects could live and move, harmoniously, and of their own accord. Without interfering with each other these objects would bounce, roll, turn and cross each other’s paths.”

This is the final piece for my AS art course, a flipbook made entirely out of biro pens. It’s something like 2100 pages long, and about 50 jotter books. I’d say I worked on and off it for roughly 3 weeks.

Old fangs is a nice melancholic animated short from Adrien Merigeau. Lovely style and the soundtrack is really breathtaking. Written and directed by Adrien Merigeau. A young wolf decides to confront his father, whom he has not seen since he was a child.
