I’ve been recently thinking about Pixar’s landmark Luxo animation and all the bad imitations that have been sprouting around the world. Don’t take me wrong, you can learn by imitating the best, but you should at least make a good effort of it so you can soak it up, but I will discuss that on another post. Today I found out that a Norwegian lamp maker called Luxo has filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against Pixar Animation Studios and the Walt Disney Company for a lamp that they are thinking of including with a limited edition Blu-ray release of their latest film ‘Up’.
Luxo says that selling a lamp based on their 1986 character will cause them ‘devastating damage’. I really hope they can reach an agreement, perhaps by comissioning the Norwegian company to make the lamps? (*hint), because I wouldn’t mind getting one of those for myself (*double hint).
