Hello, I have started to make a showreel of my animations. Can anyone offer any tips/ critism please?
A friend of mine thinks it is too long as I only have a few videos so far and thinks I should be more selective with the shots. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks muchly, Rufus ;]

Hi Ruth, welcome. As a general rule, keeping the showreel short is always a good idea (I like keeping mine to one minute), potential clients/employers need to see your skills quick, sometimes they have to see many reels and time is valuable.
It also helps you be critical of your work. Less scenes, well chosen that describe your skills accurately can do much more for you.
If they want to see more they can see the individual pieces in your website/blog, etc.

I agree with Alex, one minute seems a perfect time to keep attention yet still get a good feel of someone’s work.

I agree with Alex. But I would actually make mine shorter like 40secs. With the popularity of internet videos on the rise I would also go the web reel route instead of the DVD reel. The new trend is shorter videos. Actually greyscale gorilla has a lot to say about this recently check him out. Hope this helps.

Hi guys, thanks for the advice. I will get this down to 1min max. I was trying to fill the whole song up with shots but guess it should just be a taster. Thanks again!
