Some more great work from the Danish animation school, the Animation Workshop. Bertram is a little boy, who, while struggling with his homework, dreams himself into the future where he experiences how it is to be a pilot, a zoo keeper and other amazing things.
I love the story and the performance. The transition between one scene and the next are inspired and well carried out. Enjoy!
Á Côz, by Emmanuelle Walker, is an animated series of small dramatic comedies starred by a six year old little girl, who understands (better than most) that the future of our planet is hanging by a hair. She proposes her naive solutions to stop the destruction. All the episodes reach the same conclusion: “When you’re all are dead, I will still be here!”
More than a teaser, this is a mouth watering appetizer created by Headless Productions, a small independent animation studio based in Barcelona. It was founded by Adrian Garcia, Alfredo Torres and Victor Maldonado.
The piece was developed in order to convey mood and style of the film and the characters, it was screened at the CTNexpo event in Los Angeles last November with, as you would expect, an exceedingly good reception. Enjoy!
This is a charming short animation by French graphic designer Kadavre Exquis. It has a really nice dark duotone that adds to the ominous look of the character, although given his motifs (fruit) he’s anything but. The boiling line, although you can’t see the line much, gives is an agreeable tactile feel to it all.
Theodore is the story of a thief who gets in an orchard at night in order to steal some fruits he needs for his fruit addiction. He finally gets killed by the orchard’s owner [I must confess I don’t think I would have understood, had I not read the synopsis before hand]. Just after he was shot, we finally realize Theodore only had a nightmare. The main purpose of this video was to work on “clichés”.
Song by Nancy Adams: “Somebody in my orchard.” Kadavre Exquis is based in the Netherlands. He also is a music composer in his spare time.
Attention all vegetables, fruit and spuds of a weak disposition: Look away now! The scenes you’re about to see might have been prepared with the best seasonal animation ingredients but the recipes may contain traces of dark culinary humour and a dash of Dexterian greenery horrors.
A while back we passed on the news that Disney had been given the green light on an animated series called ‘Fish Hooks’. Well the series is now rolling out in the U.S. and it will be arriving in the U.K. this month, here’s a little clip, enjoy!
Fish Hooks is a brand new animated series coming to Disney Channel in November! Get to know Bea, Milo and Oscar before it hits your screens!
Hi! this is my first short. It’s traditional animation on backgrounds made of different types of fabrics. I hope you enjoy the misadventures of Huguito.
Aka ‘The king and the Beaver’ is a graduation student film made in 2010 at the mighty Gobelins animation school.
The animation in this lovely short is brilliant, superbly timed, great posing and a cute and original story line, which is probably one of the hardest things to get right in a short film. To make it more remarkable, most of this short was animated by hand and then scanned to TVP for colouring, but due to the lack of high speed scanner at their school they ended up animating directly into TVP in order to finish the film in time.
Written, directed and animated by Nuno Alves Rodrigues, Oussama Bouachéria, Julien Chheng, Sébastien Hary, Aymeric Kevin, Ulysse Malassagne & Franck Monier. Music by Mathieu Alvado.
This lovely short was directed at Cube Creative during the summer of 2010 by Gobelins’ students Louis Thomas, Theo Guignard and Benjamin Moreau. This Parisian agency hires talent graduated from animation schools based on the strength of their student film, which has obviously worked out for both parties. The quality of all their work is astounding and gives students the chance to break into the industry and really prove their worth with great production value pieces like this one.
You have probably seen some of their work before even if you’re not French, some of you may recall a gorgeous short called A Quoi Sa Sert L’amour directed by Louis Clichy, or the amazing bouncing elephant in 7 tonnes 2 by Nicolas Deveaux.
Cranium, a lonely-bored-alien, gets attacked whilst on his spaceship by a rouge-assassin-lady-robot, FemmeBot Fatale. He blows up her spaceship. She enters his spaceship, without permission. He reprograms her to take care of him.
